St Luke’s Teddies

St Luke’s Teddies
“Teddies” is the name of our  Mums & Tots group (although dads and grandparents are very welcome!) We meet every Monday morning during term time.

At the moment, we have a waiting list for new children as we are full; but a new term can change things when some children move on to nursery and others don’t return to us for a number of reasons.
An average session begins around 9.00a.m. when children arrive with their carer (some are childminders).
In the hall children play with a variety of toy vehicles, a slide, walkers etc. They can sit with the grown-ups playing with smaller toys or looking at books. We also have plenty of toys suitable for babies.

In another room there are craft activities, construction toys and play-dough. There are easels and chalks, plenty of paper, paints, pencils, crayons, glue and scissors.
A new venture has been an introduction to the computer for the older children. It’s never too soon!
After “tidy up” time, juice and biscuits make an appearance and a cup of tea or coffee for the grownups. If there’s a birthday, we celebrate with a present, a card and some cake. After this the children and carers learn/sing some well-known songs and rhymes.

As we are attached to St Luke’s church there are a few occasions during the year when we celebrate in the church with a simple service led by Paul Day, the vicar. The children and carers are encouraged to get involved in what has always been a fun and enjoyable time for all.
Added to all this, every summer we organise a trip! This year it was to visit “Farmer Ted’s”.
So if you are interested in finding out more please contact the Teddies organiser
Pat Corbett.
